  • Show the world who you really are. Check out the brand-new trailer for Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, in theaters February 26.

Inspired by true events, New Regency’s and Film4’s “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie” is the film adaptation of the hit musical. Jamie New is 16 and doesn’t quite fit in—instead of pursuing a “real” career he dreams of becoming a drag queen. Uncertain about his future, Jamie knows one thing for sure: he is going to be a sensation. Supported by his loving mom and his amazing friends, Jamie overcomes prejudice, beats the bullies and steps out of the darkness, into the spotlight.

“Everybody’s Talking About Jamie” stars newcomer Max Harwood, Sarah Lancashire, Lauren Patel, Shobna Gulati, Ralph Ineson, Adeel Akhtar, Samuel Bottomley, with Sharon Horgan and Richard E. Grant. The stage production’s director, Jonathan Butterell, makes his feature-film debut as director, with screenplay and lyrics by Tom MacRae, songs by Dan Gillespie Sells and a score composed by Sells and Anne Dudley. Mark Herbert, p.g.a, Peter Carlton, p.g.a, and Arnon Milchan are producing with Yariv Milchan, Michael Schaefer, Natalie Lehmann, Daniel Battsek, Ollie Madden, Peter Balm, Niall Shamma, and Jes Wilkins serving as executive producers.

On the one hand, the Amazon Prime Video release means I can watch it at home (with torrents because I do not have Amazon Prime) and I don't have to feel embarrassed with watching a film like this.On the other hand, I hate it when movies that were slated for a cinema release were instead bought by streaming services, or released in streaming only (looking at you, Soul).Paramount Pictures already sold Coming 2 America to Amazon Prime Video and The Trial of the Chicago 7 to Netflix, and Disney already sold The Woman in the Window to Netflix.Sony's Vivo was one of the biggest casualties with being sold to Netflix because it had cinematography from Roger Deakins, the Oscar-winning cinematographer of 007: Skyfall, Blade Runner 2049, and 1917, which were both specially formatted for IMAX. Vivo could have been another one of Deakins' specially formatted IMAX films.I am happy that even through all of this, at least Paramount is determined to release Top Gun: Maverick to cinemas only rather than dumping it to Paramount+ or selling it off to Amazon Prime Video, Netflix or Apple TV+, especially since that film was completely shot in IMAX cameras.
