I feel like any Dune movie is kind of doomed just by the story. Both this one, and the new one (which, yay Canada gets to see it!) are visually amazing... and incredibly boring to watch. I'm glad I saw the new one, but I'm really not sure I'm going to bother with the second part whenever that comes out.

i like virginia madsen's role in the lynch movie ... she represented the chapter headings, in the book, which were like historical excerpts and commentaries from the future ...

23:08, so much exposition, they even had to put some on the poster 😆

I'd like to see David Lynch direct Clueless.

Talking about giant worms, in the "Storied" channel, there's a recent video essay from "Monstrum" about the folklore in giant-worm monsters

If you read the first Dune book, the original Dune movie is amazing. I love the costumes, set designs, and interesting score.

I wonder why there's no mention at all of the tv miniseries "Frank Herbert's Dune"

Is this the one David Lynch movie he’ll be okay with me watching on my phone? If I find the TV cut on my iPhone 7, is Alan Smithee gonna be disappointed in me?

The new Dune could be like Jacksons Lord of the rings: A beloved Nerd-Bookseries that had a failed attempt in the 80s but with great imagery managed to become a hit and a household name.

So much fun, I was a little disappointed that you didn’t do a montage of the many times they said “spice” but, I loved it and can’t wait for the movie to come out here

The Navigators do just that, navigate. The ships use a Holzmen drive to bend space.

You ever wonder how much this channel being called Fandom Entertainment hurts the yt algorithm pairing it with the actual Screen Junkies videos? I've always thought more people would watch these if it was even called something like "Honest Trailer's writers review Dune", purely because if you didn't already know these guys, you wouldn't exactly assume they're connected. I don't know, just something I've pondered for years now when ever I watch these lol

Listened to Hans Zimmers's soundtrack for the new Dune film and I had to go listen to the original soundtrack by Toto to cleanse my palette. The new one just sooo boring, the old one is hands down one of the best soundtracks from that era.Though, it is definitely not a great film if you haven't read the books because they squished the plot so hard it's almost unrecognisable :)

I'm more excited about Denise Villenvue (def spelled right) than Dune. Blade Runner is great and Arrival is one of my all time favorite modern scifi movies, up there with Ex Machina.

My biggest problem with Lynch's Dune is.....SPOILER..... when Paul makes it rain on Arrakis at the end. That would have killed the sandworms and ended the spice.

Please tell me you have watched the Sci-Fy channel mini series with James McAvoy. Very close to the books. I personally love them. They did a good job working with the books and changing the little things from the books that wouldn’t translate well to the screen.

Donnie Darko is definitely a movie people love because they saw it when they were 20 years old, and high.

This movie was my gateway drug into science fiction and the works of Frank Herbert. I have a collection of nearly all the first editions and pulp magazines of his work. My mother was sci-fi fan and I saw it when I was far too young to understand a thing and just remembered images and when I was twelve I asked what that was from.

Props to Lon Harris for pronouncing Denis Villeneuve's name correctly!
